How do the hints work?

Hints vary by game. Strands hint mode shows the first two letters of each answer; its hint button reveals one full word and its path, starting with the spangram. Wordle offers a two-letter hint before the full answer, while Connections offers category hints. Waffle provides swap steps rather than word hints.

Do I need to enter today's puzzle?

No. The daily pages fetch today's puzzle automatically, so you don't need to paste a word list or type in a board to get started. If a puzzle fails to load, check your internet connection and refresh the page.
